        Duration: 10 min

        Type: Phyisical theater and clowning
        Audience:5+

“DATE” is a clown and physical theatre performance that dives into the awkward beauty, chaos, and vulnerability of a romantic first date. Performed solo but with an unexpected “partner” from the audience, the show blurs the line between fiction and reality, creating a playful and touching exploration of human connection.

Through comedy, improvisation, and physical storytelling, the clown navigates the absurd rituals of love, the pressure to impress, and the desperate search for intimacy — often failing gloriously. Each performance is unique, shaped by the spontaneous energy between the clown and their chosen "date."

        "Date" description

“DATE” is a solo clown and physical theatre performance that explores the raw, ridiculous, and deeply human experience of going on a first date. Using minimal props, direct audience interaction, and a body that speaks louder than words, the performer invites one spectator to become the clown’s "date" — live, unrehearsed, and full of surprises.

Behind the comedy lies a deeper investigation into the universal human need for connection, the fear of rejection, and the desperate desire to be seen and loved. The clown — both bold and fragile — tries to follow the unspoken “rules” of romance, only to reveal how awkward, vulnerable, and beautiful those moments truly are when stripped of control.

        Artistic Goals

        Humanize Vulnerability
To show that failure, awkwardness, and imperfection are not only normal — they’re beautiful, essential, and deeply human.

        Break the Fourth Wall
By involving an audience member as the “date,” the show collapses the boundary between stage and audience, making each performance unique, unpredictable, and alive.

        Celebrate the Absurdity of Romance
Through physical comedy and clown logic, “DATE” exposes the strange rituals and silent expectations that surround dating, especially the pressure to perform or impress.

        Create Authentic Connection
Beyond laughter, the show aims to create a shared emotional space — between the performer, the “date,” and the audience — where empathy and joy can emerge naturally.

        Empower Playfulness
“DATE” reminds adults how to play again — with risk, with imagination, and with each other.

        - Style & Techniques

Clowning: The heart of the performance — direct, emotional, naïve, and open.

Physical Theatre: The clown’s body speaks when words fail; movement is storytelling.

Improvisation: Every show is co-created with the audience, especially the chosen “date.”

Minimalism: Few props, one costume — maximum transformation through play.

        Emotional Impact

Audiences leave “DATE” laughing, blushing, and unexpectedly moved. The show doesn’t just parody dating — it reveals how brave it is to love.

      • Granted by CC4WBS

‘DATE’ is supported by UNESCO, through the “Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans” (CC4WBs) a project funded by the European Union that aims to foster dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors for increased socio-economic impact.
